The Neuropathology Brain Bank & Research CoRE (NPBB) at Mount Sinai is seeking a new manager. The NPBB is a new state-of-the-art and rapidly growing programmatic effort, the goal of which is to enhance and expand translational human brain disease research. This core serves several translational neuroscience research programs at Mount Sinai and elsewhere. The successful candidate must be passionate about brain disease research, highly organized, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, able to manage multiple relationships with investigators, and have a strong background in histological approaches to studying brain tissues. There is significant room for advancement within the administrative structure of the core program (including the research faculty track).

Responsibilities include:

  • Establish and maintain workflows
  • Design and implement complex neurohistological studies
  • Analyze and interpret histological data
  • Coordinate seminars/discussions about histopathology-based research and core resources
  • Assist with the development of new grants/proposals to obtain support for new activities
  • Supervise research coordinators, administrators and histotechnologists
  • Maintain tissue collections, digital whole slide images and research database
  • Perform other related duties (e.g., strategic planning, project tracking, assist wit budgeting/accounting, administration, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Doctorate degree (PhD) in neuroscience or related field
  • Minimum five years of experience with scientific investigation
  • Must have demonstrated achievement in neuroscience/neurohistology/neuroanatomy
  • Must have contributed to several peer-reviewed publications
